Terms of Use
These terms cover your use of Quidsmith at quidsmith.com. By playing the game or reading the guides you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
What Quidsmith is
Quidsmith is a free, independent browser game that simulates a lifetime of UK personal finance. It models real product types for realism, but it is a game, not a financial tool, and must not be relied on for real financial decisions.
Using the game
You may play the game and read the guides for your own personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to misuse the site, including attempting to disrupt it, access it other than through the normal interface, or use it in any unlawful way. The game runs in your browser and stores your progress on your own device; if you choose to create an account, some of it is also stored on our servers, as described in the privacy policy.
Accounts
You never need an account to play. An optional account, created by signing in with Google, lets your saves follow you between devices and lets you take part in challenge rooms and hiscores.
You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping access to your Google account secure. Accounts are for individual people; do not share one or create one on someone else's behalf. You must be old enough to have a Google account in your country to sign in.
You can delete your account at any time from Account in the game, which erases your cloud saves, statistics and board entries. We may suspend or remove an account that breaks these terms.
Names, shared results and fair play
Some things you create are visible to other players: your display name, your entries on hiscore boards and in challenge rooms, and any result page you choose to publish. You remain responsible for them, and you grant us permission to display them for the purpose of running those features.
Do not choose a display name, or publish anything, that is abusive, hateful, obscene, impersonates someone else (including us), or is otherwise unlawful. We may change or remove a name, remove a published result page, or remove a board entry that breaks this rule. There is a report control beside other players' names if you see one that does.
Hiscores are meant to reflect runs that were actually played. Scores are re-simulated on our server before they are recorded, so a fabricated result is simply rejected. Do not attempt to manipulate the boards by tampering with submitted data, automating play to farm results, or submitting on behalf of another person. We may remove entries and close accounts that do.
These features are provided as they are, and we may change, pause or discontinue them. Boards run in seasons and are archived when a season ends.
Membership and payments
The game is free. Membership is an optional annual purchase that supports the project and adds cosmetic and convenience features, described on the membership page. Nothing sold ever affects how the game plays: it does not change the simulation, the odds, the difficulty, the number of attempts, or any hiscore ranking. Membership is not a financial product.
Memberships are sold and fulfilled through our payments provider, Paddle (Paddle.com Market Limited), which acts as the Merchant of Record, meaning Paddle is the seller of record for the transaction and handles billing and any applicable taxes. Card details are entered with Paddle and never reach us. Prices are shown in pounds; the exact total, including any tax due for your location, is confirmed at checkout.
A membership grants twelve months of access from the date of purchase. By default it renews once a year so that ongoing features do not lapse; you can cancel at any time, which stops future renewals. A one-time membership that does not renew is also available. Whichever you choose, cancelling or letting a membership end keeps everything you have earned, including any supporter badge, which is yours permanently. Only ongoing extras, such as the number of challenge rooms you can run at once, revert when a membership ends, and they return if you rejoin.
Because membership gives immediate access to digital content, by purchasing you ask for that access to begin at once and acknowledge that the statutory fourteen-day right to cancel a digital purchase is lost once access has begun. This does not affect your rights where the service is faulty or not as described. If a purchase is refunded or reversed, whether at your request or through a chargeback, we may withdraw the membership and any badge or feature it granted. For any billing question, contact hello@quidsmith.com.

No warranty
The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that it will be accurate, uninterrupted or error-free. The economic model is deliberately simplified and may not reflect real-world outcomes.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the site or its content, including any financial decision made in connection with it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under UK law.

Changes and governing law
These terms may be updated from time to time; the date above shows the latest version, and continued use means you accept the current terms. They are governed by the laws of Scotland, and any dispute is subject to the jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
